SB19 is back once again for another episode of Showbreak and this time, the boys give us a look into their trip to Disneyland, Hong Kong. The event took place while they were in the country as part of their Simula at Wakas World Tour.
Not only did their trip serve as their rest and relaxation, but it was a chance for the boys to celebrate three things: the 20th anniversary of Disneyland, SB19’s seventh birthday, and their very own, Pablo’s, birthday which took place on September 14. Let’s break it down and show you what took place in the latest episode of Showbreak.
During their introduction, Justin informs the viewers that they are at Disneyland, Hong Kong, to celebrate their 20th anniversary of giving magical experiences to everyone that visits their theme parks. It also coincides with SB19’s celebration of their seventh birthday. They mention how they all previously went to another theme park in the Philippines at one time when they were feeling very low, but now they are able to go to another in a foreign country. It was then that they were given a task which is a staple of their entertaining show.
The boys’ task is simple: They will need to complete five riddles that will tell them which Disneyland location they need to go to and complete the associated mission in order to win a star and Disneyland hairbands. If they complete the challenge, five lucky A’TIN will win a prize picked by the boys themselves.
Pablo notes how, no matter what it is, whether it is an anniversary, birthday, or anything that takes up their time, they hardly win or get gifts, but Justin quickly points out how in the last video, due to the efforts of Ken and Josh, they actually won a relaxing massage for the group. Josh remarks how they are not just there to lead but to serve. Everything they do is for A’TIN. We have a feature on the previous Showbreak that you can read about here.
Singing “Shooting For The Stars” chorus acapella while enjoying the ride
“An acapella must be sung while gliding with the sleighs sliding. When you wander in the forest, find a ride that shows you the scenes of Arendelle.”
Justin immediately answers it as The World of Frozen, guessing correctly. The boys head to the location and are given their first mission. They must ride the Wandering Oaken Sliding Sleighs and sing an acapella of the chorus of “Shooting For The Stars.”
The boys easily complete the challenge, earning their first star and ensuring a fan wins a prize in the end. Stell is handed the headband first as Justin jokingly mentions how it matches with what he was wearing. It should be noted that Ken, all throughout the video, was not used to riding in theme parks but he has done perfectly well. He should be commended for facing his fears bravely as he brings it up later in the episode.
Three iconic poses in front of the Castle of Magical Dreams
The second riddle is immediately given to the boys and it reads:
“A place where 14 princesses and queen’s tales unite, stands tall and majestic in day and in night. Stand with your family and friends and echo a moment that’s built to last.”
The clue takes them to the Castle of Magical Dreams where their mission is to do three iconic poses in front of the famous castle with all the members.
Of course, SB19 would instantly go for their first post, “Shooting For The Stars” as it has been one of the songs that best define the group and their journey.
Their final pose is the iconic pose that shot them straight to stardom and the song that made them go viral long ago, “Go Up.” With all three poses done, the boys have completed the challenge as Pablo is given the headband. Two stars, three to go.
The third riddle confused the boys a little bit but they eventually figured out the solution. The riddle reads: “In a shrinking hero’s fight, where blasters flash with blinding light, your total score must reach the height of a thousand thousand, burning bright.” The boys quickly head to Tomorrowland and find the “Ant-man and the Wasp Nano Battle”
Their mission was to collectively get 2 million points so that they could win a star. Of course the boys were up to the task and easily beat the challenge thanks to their unmatched teamwork. Josh was given the headband as they head to their fourth challenge.
For their fourth riddle, it read: “Beware of a great Big Bear, beyond the gulch it clares. Forward and backwards it will take you, so hold tight you might turn blue.” The riddle took them to Grizzly Gulch and their fourth mission which was rather easy. All they had to do was to ride the Big Grizzle Mountain Runaway Mine Cars Ride and enjoy. It was a much tamer challenge than the others
It should be noted that Ken is not a fan of exciting rides and yet he still found the courage to do so because he wants to celebrate with his peers. He decides to face his fears and learns to have fun. He can be seen smiling during portions of the ride. With the challenge complete, the earn their fourth star as Justin wears the headband. With one more star on the horizon, they head for their next destination as they are given the riddle.
Their fifth and final riddle reads: “In a long day of merry and fun, we’re sure your bellies are hungry a ton. Lucky meals await, in a saloon, how great! Don’t forget to try them all, or else the mission will fail.” Their destination is the Lucky Nugget Saloon where their mission is another easy challenge. The boys are tasked with buying and tasting the new snack menu of the restaurant, the easiest challenge so far. It is so easy in fact that the boys actually thought that there was a catch as it felt more like a reward than a challenge.
The new menu as mentioned by Pablo includes truffle fries, chips, Chip and Dale-shaped deserts, noodles, churros, and ice cream. It is a fun spread of snacks that is great to have during a nice, hot day at the theme park and is perfect for SB19. With the final challenge complete, they receive their fifth and final star as Ken wears the headband as a pat on his back for riding extreme rides. The boys can finally unwind and see more of the sights and sounds of Disneyland, Hong Kong.
With their challenges complete, the boys finally get to focus on enjoying themselves. They see many of Disneyland’s attractions as they meet and greet famous Disney mascots. Their first stop was seeing the Friendtastic Parade, an extravagant parade of sights and sounds that showcases many Disney mascots as they ride on floats. The boys were excited to see the mascots as some interacted with them as they passed by.
Secret missions for the birthday boy and meeting Mickey Mouse
During the filming of the trip, there would be two secret videos in relation to Pablo’s birthday. Pablo was set aside and asked by the camera for five wishes that he wanted but was only able to mention five words. One word was equal to one wish. It was difficult to do so but somehow he thought of exactly five. The words were MONEY, FOOD, GIVE, REST, and FUN. Little did he know that those words would be used in another secret video.
After the first secret video, the video shows the boys meeting with Mickey Mouse. The boys greeted the iconic mouse mascot and shared a wonderful moment with the world-famous mouse and took photos with him. WIth warm hugs, they soon leave for their other destinations.
The second secret video would soon play as Ken, Justin, Stell, and Josh were eating. Pablo was most likely off screen during this portion as the secret mission was for the boys to secretly buy gifts based on his wish list from the first secret video. Each member split the task as Josh would find a gift involving REST, Ken would find a way for GIVE, Stell needed to find MONEY, and Justin would get something FUN.
SB19 find gifts for A’TIN and Pablo at Disney Emporium
The boys had gone to the Disney Emporium to buy prizes for the lucky A’TIN since they had won their five challenges, as well as a gift for Pablo as part of their secret video. The catch was they only had 200 HKD for their budget and a 15-minute time limit. They all went their separate ways in search of their gifts.
In Pablo’s case, the gift he wanted to give was a Buzz Lightyear toy. He remembers the character’s famous line, “To infinity and beyond,” as he relates to it very well. The iconic line is akin to SB19’s journey thus far and how they continue to push further.
Ken was able to get a tiny container with mini Disney characters inside. He explains that he wants the A’TIN that sees the gift to always remember him by.
Josh’s gift is an awesome-looking Darth Vader mask from the Star Wars franchise. He jokingly quips that the reason he gifts the mask is because “I am your father.” his famous line from the original trilogy to Luke Skywalker.
Justin’s gift is a cute Baymax shirt for the lucky fan to receive. He explains the reason he chose that as a gift is so that he and whoever receives it will match with him. He adds that whoever has it is his bae and his hero.
Last but certainly not the least, Stell’s gift is a Donald Duck plushie. Not only is it because it matches his current clothes, but to also keep A’TIN company as they hold on to it.
After purchasing the gifts for A’TIN and their secret gifts for Pablo, the continue with their day at Disneyland. They stopped by to watch the Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle, where the Disney mascots performed for the live audience.
During dinner, SB19 would have a hearty meal so that they would be reenergized for the fireworks. Little did Pablo know that he would be getting a surprise visit from Mickey and Minnie Mouse. The two would interact with the mahalima as they posed for pictures with the group, giving Pablo an experience he would never forget.
After their meal, SB19 would finally head outdoors to watch the fireworks. Tonight’s show was “Momentous: Party in the Night Sky.” The scene was absolutely magical and breath-taking. It was a wonderful display of lights and firework designs that only Disneyland could pull off. Pablo mentions how this was the very first time he was able to enjoy an entire tour of the theme park.
As they were wrapping up the video and explained how five lucky A’TIN would have a chance to win the gifts the boys bought for them, the attention then turned to Pablo as Ken, Justin, Stell, and Josh would finally reveal the secret mission of the video.
Stell would be first as he gifts Pablo keychains of Chip and Dale. At first Pablo was confused with the gift. The reason was hilarious as Stell explains that chipmunks like peanuts or mani in Filipino. Instead of gifting Pablo, he gives him chipmunks so they would in turn give Pablo mani. For foreign fans, mani sounds identical to money.
In Justin’s case, he originally misheard the wish and bought a toy bubble gun. When he learned he was tasked with giving FUN for Pablo, he was relieved as he could still have fun with the bubbles.
Josh’s gift, admittedly, was a bit of a headscratcher. Since it was very hard to come up with a gift involving REST, he settled for an Elsa keychain. His explanation was merely the lyrics to their song, MAPA. The best guess how Elsa relates to it is, instead of holding on to stress, you must “Let it Go.”
Finally, Ken’s gift to Pablo is a cap for him to wear. His explanation was that he knows that Pablo likes wearing caps so it was the first thing he thought of for the theme of GIFT. Pablo mentions however that when he said the word GIFT, he meant he wanted to give back to people, not to be gifted. He still appreciated the gesture.
Closing thoughts
SB19 wrapped up their video by asking A’TIN to check the comments section of the video on how to claim the gifts. Even during their off day, the boys still find ways to entertain the fans and give back. Despite the day supposedly being for them to rest and unwind before heading back to their busy lives, they managed to find time for themselves and giving an entertaining Showbreak episode.
As the boys celebrate their seventh birthday, we can only guess that they’ll have more fun, wild moments like this in the future. Who knows, maybe they’ll find another amusement part somewhere in the world where they can unwind. All we know is that no matter where they go, A’TIN will hop with SB19 on their rocket as they shoot for the stars. There is no place to go but up.
